On the morning of August 16, Ruwi and his adoptive parents took a photo in a hotel room in Huainan
01. She returned from the Netherlands to look for her relatives
Seeking help on short video platforms
On August 12, Ruwi released a video about her search for her biological parents through the short video account "Junge Searching for Relatives + Dating". Ruwi introduced her current situation in English and said that she had known since she was a child that Huainan City was her birthplace. "Now we are going back to Huainan to find my biological parents, so I need everyone's help by spreading this video and searching for information. Thank you very much."
After contacting, at 9 am on August 16, at a hotel on Dongshan Middle Road in Huainan City, Da Wan News reporters interviewed Ruwi and her Dutch adoptive parents Bert and Lara.
Bert told the Da Wan News reporter that he and his wife wanted a child at the time, and then the country (the Netherlands) told them that they could adopt a child, so they decided to adopt a child. Because the Netherlands also has connections with China, and he also knew some stories about China, he chose to adopt in China and spent eight years completing the entire set of procedures.
After deciding to adopt Ruwi, Bert and Lara kept in touch with Ruwi through the orphanage. They would send some photos to the orphanage so that Ruwi could see what they looked like in advance. In December 2011, they first went to Hefei and handled the adoption procedures at the Anhui Provincial Civil Affairs Department. They successfully adopted Ruwi and went to Huainan to apply for a passport.

02. Curious about one’s own background
Do not hate your biological parents
According to the information Bert and Lara obtained from the Huainan City Social (Children) Welfare Institute, Ruwi was chubby, had big eyes and curly hair when he was born. He was picked up at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau of Datong District, Huainan City on March 23, 2007, wrapped in a blanket and passing meconium, and was estimated to be a newborn. Ruwi was then sent to the Huainan City Social (Children) Welfare Institute and lived in a foster family (the foster family and Ruwi had no adoption relationship) for 3 years. After being taken to the Netherlands by his adoptive parents, the adoptive parents and the foster family have kept in touch. Ruwi has returned to Huainan twice and met with his previous foster family.
In 2015, Ruwi and her foster parents returned to China for the first time. The main purpose was to travel around China, and secondly, Ruwi missed her foster mother. Lara said that Ruwi cried for a long time when she and her foster mother separated in 2011, so she wanted to come back to see her and hope that everything was fine for her. "When I saw my foster mother, I was very happy." Lara said. When they returned to Huainan this time, the foster family also invited Ruwi and his family to eat Bagongshan tofu banquet, and also visited Shouxian Ancient City and Chu Culture Museum.
Ruwi is very satisfied with her current life, but she has always been curious about her life experience. She does not hate her biological parents, she just wants to know what happened? Why was she abandoned? She can accept any reason. At the age of 12, Ruwi decided to find her biological parents. "I want to see what my biological parents look like, whether I have other brothers and sisters? Do I look like my father or mother?"
03. Blood samples have been collected and entered into the database
There is no clue yet
Ruwi is the only child of her adoptive parents. On August 6 this year, Ruwi and her adoptive parents left the Netherlands, first flew to Beijing, then took the high-speed train to Xi'an for a trip, and took the high-speed train to Huainan on August 12. On August 13, they first went to the Huainan Public Security Bureau to collect blood samples and enter them into the database for DNA comparison. The police told them that the blood sample data entered into the database is permanent, and even if it is not matched now, the data of her parents or a family member will be entered into the database in the future, which will also help in the successful search for relatives.
At present, Ruwi and his adoptive parents have not found any clues in Huainan. They have also printed some missing family leaflets and distributed them in vegetable markets and other places. The content on the leaflets was written by Ruwi himself and translated into Chinese by translator Mr. Zhu. In the process of distributing the leaflets, some enthusiastic residents told them, "Huainan didn't have many outsiders at that time. Ruwi should be from Huainan or the surrounding areas of Huainan."
Ruwi printed a leaflet for finding relatives
According to the time and place where Ruwi was picked up in the records provided by the welfare home, Ruwi and his adoptive parents went to the local Datong Police Station in Huainan. The police there helped to check the police records around March 2007, but no relevant abandonment records were found. The police speculated that Ruwi needed to complete the procedures to be registered in the welfare home's collective household registration. From the records, the Civil Affairs Bureau might not be the place where Ruwi was actually found.
Ruwi doesn't know what else to do now. She has already tried everything she can think of. If she doesn't find it this time, she will just have to wait when she returns to the Netherlands.
04. One year left in secondary school
I plan to study biology in college
During the interview, Da Wan News reporter learned that Ruwi's adoptive parents are both in the IT industry in the Netherlands. They are both in their 50s. They will take Ruwi around the world during the summer vacation. Now they have been to many countries. "I have been to Italy, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan, and I also came to China when I was 8 years old." Ruwi said. After being adopted, Ruwi quickly adapted to life in the Netherlands and took 7 years of classical ballet classes. In addition, she also likes painting and drawing cartoons. Bert and Ruwi showed some of Ruwi's paintings to Da Wan News reporters, which were very beautiful!

Adoptive parents Bert and Lara both support their daughter's search for her biological parents in Huainan. Adoptive father Bert believes that it is important to give his daughter a peaceful life. "I also really want to tell her biological parents what her life is like, her paintings, and her studies. Of course, I also want Ruwi to see any of her family members in Huainan." Mother Lara told Da Wan News reporters that she supports her daughter's search for her biological parents because that period of life was a big problem for Ruwi. "Ruwi lost her peace because of this. She wants to know where she came from?" Lara said that if Ruwi's biological parents were found, "I want to say to them, thank you for giving her life, because if not, I would not have my beautiful daughter."
Translator Mr. Zhu introduced that Ruwi is currently studying in a relatively good secondary school in the Netherlands. When Ruwi returns to the Netherlands this time, she will enter the last year of secondary school and go to university after the last year. She plans to study biology. Ruwi explained that she chose biology because she has a strong curiosity about how things work. "I want to understand how DNA works, how different organisms or certain organs work."
