Xinhua News Agency, Luang Prabang, Laos, August 17 (Reporters Zhao Xu and Ma Huaizhao) The China-aided Luang Prabang Hospital upgrade and renovation project in Laos was officially put into use and handed over to the Lao side on the 16th. Relevant personnel from the Lao Ministry of Health, the Laos-China Cooperation Committee, the Chinese Embassy in Laos and the project construction unit attended the handover ceremony.

In his speech, Laotian Minister of Health Benfeng said that the upgrading and renovation of Luang Prabang Hospital reflects China's strong support for Lao people's livelihood. Laos is willing to learn from China's experience in comprehensively deepening reform and further strengthen cooperation with China in the field of medical and health care.

Chinese Ambassador to Laos Fang Hong said that China is willing to share its experience in medical and health reform with Laos, jointly implement important measures related to cooperation in the health sector in the new action plan for building a China-Laos community with a shared future, and build a China-Laos health community.

The Luang Prabang Hospital in Laos was built with assistance from China. This upgrade and renovation project includes the construction of new surgical and cardiovascular buildings, apartments for Chinese experts, sewage treatment stations, fire pools and pump houses, and the repair and improvement of previously built buildings and the provision of relevant equipment. After the project is handed over, China will also provide technical assistance for three years to continue to improve the local medical and health level and medical treatment capabilities, and build Luang Prabang Hospital into a central hospital in northern Laos to effectively improve local people's livelihood.
