Jingshan is one of the 15 heritage elements of the "Beijing Central Axis". Do you know the history of Jingshan? In what aspects is its value reflected? What are the plans for the future? Recently, a reporter from the Beijing News interviewed Du Yanhui, the head of the Planning and Construction Section of Jingshan Park.

On July 27, the 46th UNESCO World Heritage Conference held in New Delhi, India, passed a resolution to include "Beijing Central Axis - A Masterpiece of China's Ideal Capital Order" in the World Heritage List. Du Yanhui said that in terms of landscape aesthetics, Jingshan is the climax of the spatial sequence of Beijing's Central Axis and an important part of the urban landscape formed by Beijing's Central Axis.

During the Yongle reign of the Ming Dynasty, Emperor Zhu Di built the Beijing Palace. He used the demolished old city debris and the mud dug from Tongzi River in the Forbidden City to build a hill behind the palace and named it Wansui Mountain. It was renamed Jingshan in the Qing Dynasty. Du Yanhui introduced that the Shouhuang Palace complex in Jingshan, as the second largest complex on the central axis after the Forbidden City, was handed over to the Beijing Children's Palace in 1955 for use for 57 years. In 2013, with the attention and support of the city leaders and cultural relics departments and the overall coordination of the Municipal Park Management Center, Jingshan Park and the Beijing Children's Palace were officially handed over, ending the decades of "occupancy" of the Shouhuang Palace complex.
