On August 15, a netizen broke the news that a baby was found on the roadside opposite a real estate sales office in Nanbu County, Nanchong City, Sichuan Province. There was a note left in the cradle with the baby's date of birth and other information written on it.

According to eyewitnesses, the baby was found across the road from the sales office of Shuimu Tsinghua real estate. Police cars and hospital ambulances arrived at the scene to handle the situation.

A reporter from Xiaoxiang Morning News contacted the Nanbu County People's Hospital, and the staff told the reporter that the baby was found around eight o'clock in the morning and the hospital examined the baby's physical condition according to the procedures.

Staff from the Binjiang Police Station in Nanbu County told reporters that after completing inquiries, visits and investigations, the police had handed the baby over to the local civil affairs department.

On the afternoon of the 15th, Xiaoxiang Morning News reporter learned from the Nanbu County Civil Affairs Bureau that the baby has been temporarily placed in the Nanchong City Second Social Welfare Institute. According to relevant laws and regulations, the police will issue a notice to find the baby's biological parents. After the expiration of the notice, if the baby's biological parents or other guardians are still not found, the civil affairs department will handle the procedures for the baby to enter the children's welfare institution and register the baby in the welfare institution's collective household registration. During the interview, the staff did not disclose relevant information such as the baby's gender.

According to the Cover News report, the baby is a girl born on June 1 this year.

Chen Pingfan, a national "Double Thousand Plan" legal expert and director of Furong Law Firm, said: In this case, the biological parents of the baby may have committed the crime of abandonment. According to Article 261 of my country's Criminal Law, if a person refuses to support an elderly, young, sick or other person who is unable to live independently and the circumstances are serious, he shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than five years, criminal detention or surveillance.
