Recently, a "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered" Mod named "H2M" was warned and banned by Activision. This Mod added the multiplayer content of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" to "Modern Warfare Remastered". This is because the official "Modern Warfare 2 Remastered" only has a single-player campaign and no multiplayer content.
Yesterday we reported that Mod developers shared the news of receiving Activision warnings on social media. Many players expressed dissatisfaction with Activision's move, and some players even tried to launch a campaign to report Call of Duty works on Steam.
However, just hours after the mod developer announced that it would comply with Activision's request, the mod had already been "leaked" on many servers in the Discord chat. According to Insider Gaming, at least 800 people are already playing the mod, and thousands of people are believed to have downloaded it.
The Call of Duty community is still very unhappy with the official decision and has fiercely criticized Activision. The creator of "H2M" promoted the Mod for a week before its release, which even led to the Modern Warfare Remastered being on Steam's North American bestseller list for several consecutive days for the first time in 8 years since its release. This Mod has been in development for many years, and the community questioned why Activision issued a ban just hours before its release.
Players have also launched a petition asking the official to "let go" of H2M Mod. As of press time, the number of people who have signed the petition on Change.org has reached 7,416.
Activision has not yet responded to the Mod-related situation.
