[Global Times reporter Jiang Ailing] According to a report by Yonhap News Agency on the 16th, 27 members of South Korea's largest opposition party, the Democratic Party of Korea, issued a joint statement on the same day, regarding the South Korean prosecutor's office's investigation into the bank accounts of former President Moon Jae-in and his wife, saying that this was "obvious political retaliation and should be stopped immediately."

The Korea Herald quoted legal sources on the 16th as saying that the Jeonju District Prosecutor's Office recently obtained a search warrant from the court to trace the financial accounts of Moon Jae-in and his wife to investigate whether Moon Jae-in and his wife had helped their former son-in-law Xu in the case of suspected "special benefits when joining Thai Eastar Jet."

According to Yonhap News Agency, 27 members of the Democratic Party of Korea who served as aides to the Moon Jae-in administration issued a statement saying, "The prosecution has conducted a forced investigation of the relevant personnel in a similar way to tracking for four years. Not only Moon Jae-in's former son-in-law, but even his family and people around him have been harassed, but no conclusion has been reached so far."

The statement also said, "It is reported that during this process, prosecutors told a witness that 'the former president should be arrested.' Therefore, some people are worried that the ultimate goal of this investigation is to target former President Moon Jae-in. The prosecution seems to have drawn up the 'blueprint' of the entire investigation from the beginning."

According to the above-mentioned Korean media, the Korean prosecutors believe that the family of Moon Jae-in and his wife's daughter, Moon Da-hye, had no fixed income for a period of time, and Moon Jae-in and his wife had provided living expenses for their daughter's family. The prosecutors believe that if the living expenses originally provided by the parents are transferred to Thai Eastar Jet when the children are unable to make a living independently, this money can be regarded as a bribe from Lee Sang-jik to Moon Jae-in.

The Korea Herald said the lawsuit investigation was filed with prosecutors by the then main opposition party, the People's Power Party, in September 2020. Since the lawsuit was filed, prosecutors have been investigating whether there was any exchange of interests between Lee Sang-jik's public appointment and Xu's work at the airline.
