On August 14, the Hainan Alumni Association of Zhejiang University held a farewell party for the Class of 2024 in Haikou, sending blessings and encouragement to the outstanding students from Hainan who are about to enter Zhejiang University, and donated scholarships to 12 freshmen, demonstrating the alumni’s deep affection for their alma mater and their earnest care for their younger classmates.

Hu Guoliang, president of the Zhejiang University Hainan Alumni Association, reviewed the deep relationship between Zhejiang University and Hainan in his speech, and extended his sincere blessings to the freshmen who are about to embark on the journey of Zhejiang University. He urged the freshmen to cherish their youth, study hard, climb to the top and pursue excellence.
Chen Hongjie, a representative of Zhejiang University’s Hainan alumni, shared his experience and insights of studying at Zhejiang University, and encouraged the freshmen to have the courage to explore the unknown, dare to challenge themselves, and practice the school motto of “seeking truth and innovation” with practical actions.
The scholarship donation ceremony was hosted by Zhou Jian, a senior alumnus of Zhejiang University and the first winner of China's Top Ten Outstanding CEOs. He read out the congratulatory message from Huang Renqun, deputy director of the Zhejiang University Development Liaison Office and executive deputy secretary-general of the Alumni Association, to the new students on behalf of the Alumni Association, and read out the congratulatory letter from the representative of the Hainan Admissions Group of Zhejiang University.
At the ceremony, donor representatives including Hu Guoliang, Wang Tianci, and Du Long came on stage to present scholarships to 12 new students including Wang Han (Hainan Overseas Chinese Middle School).
Freshman representative Fu Zhihua expressed his sincere gratitude to the Hainan Alumni Association. He said that being able to become a member of Zhejiang University is a great encouragement to him, and he promised to study hard, live up to his youth, and bring glory to Zhejiang University.
