City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) welcomes new students

On August 15, the City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) welcomed the first batch of students for the 2024 undergraduate class. This year, the university has set up four majors for undergraduates, namely computer science and technology, intelligent manufacturing engineering, materials science and engineering, and energy and power engineering. It recruits students from ten provinces (including autonomous regions and municipalities) across the country and selects the best candidates based on their college entrance examination scores.
The freshmen walked along the central axis of the campus to the registration office of the fifth academic building, where they received the welcome gift packs prepared by the school. Staff from various departments of the school worked together to help with registration and answer questions. The school's dormitories are spacious, equipped with independent bathrooms and terraces, and the freshmen can move in with their bags. Tmall Supermarket, Cainiao Station, takeaway cabinets, laundry rooms and other public facilities are fully equipped, and the canteen is a three-minute walk away, making daily life very convenient. The brand-new basketball court and jogging track are paved along the mountain. Freshmen and their parents strolled around the campus and lingered.
Xie, a student from Dongguan, said, "The feeling between my first visit to the school and now is very different. The school is located in the heart of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. As a Dongguan native, I am very happy to be admitted to City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan). The four undergraduate majors currently offered are among the best in the world subject rankings. This is the best choice for me."
Guo from Henan was the first student to register that day. "I am very excited. I have made a preliminary plan for my university studies. I want to learn the basics first and hope to participate in some programming competitions. In my junior and senior years, I will focus more on algorithm research and do scientific research in the laboratory. I hope I can realize my dream in CityU Dongguan!" said Guo.
