Changsha Evening News Changsha on Palm August 16 (All-media reporter Liu Jun) On August 16, the 2024 "Belt and Road" Youth Creativity and Heritage Forum Promotion Conference was held online. More than 200 young people from countries along the "Belt and Road" watched and participated in the interaction in real time through the online platform. Representatives from UNESCO, China's National Commission for UNESCO, and Changsha and Nanjing youth introduced the previous forums and the relevant information of the host cities to young people from various countries at the meeting.
In 2013, China proposed the Belt and Road Initiative. In order to promote the Silk Road spirit of "peaceful cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning, mutual benefit and win-win", China and UNESCO jointly initiated and held the Belt and Road Youth Creativity and Heritage Forum in 2017. So far, nearly 700 young people from more than 130 countries have participated.
Pei Boyong, an education project officer at the UNESCO East Asia Multisectoral Regional Office, said that in the past seven years, young representatives attending the Belt and Road Youth Creativity and Heritage Forum have put forward many ideas and initiatives, which have inspired youth leadership and encouraged them to use creativity and media arts to address current pressing challenges and promote the realization of sustainable development goals. He said that UNESCO has been committed to creating conditions for young people to develop their talents and realize their potential. Currently, UNESCO is promoting the "Young Researchers" (YAR) global initiative to allow young people to participate in research of their interest. UNESCO will support youth research through training, guidance and coordination.
Guo Wei, Director of the Science and Culture Division of the Secretariat of the National Commission of China for UNESCO, said that the Belt and Road Youth Creativity and Heritage Forum has been successfully held for seven consecutive years. The themes of the forums have covered everything from enhancing youth leadership in creativity, heritage and resilience to promoting cultural diversity and inclusiveness. The forum has become a platform for cross-cultural dialogue among young people from countries along the Silk Road. The 2024 Belt and Road Youth Creativity and Heritage Forum will continue to provide a platform for young people from all countries to gather ideas, share creativity and exchange innovations. China warmly welcomes young people from all over the world to participate and share their stories.
Liu Xiaoxi from Changsha is the Chinese youth representative at the third Belt and Road Youth Creativity and Heritage Forum. At the meeting, she introduced the history, culture and urban development of Changsha, the host city of the forum, to the international youth attending the forum. On behalf of Changsha youth, she extended an invitation to the world, welcoming young people from all over the world to Changsha, the world's "media art capital", for cultural exchanges and industrial and economic cooperation.
It is reported that the 2024 Belt and Road Youth Creativity and Heritage Forum will be held in Changsha and Nanjing from September 22 to 28 this year. Since the forum launched recruitment for young people around the world on August 1, more than 1,300 young people from 118 countries have actively registered to participate.
