On the afternoon of August 16, Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang, Deputy Director of the Information Bureau of the Ministry of National Defense and spokesman of the Ministry of National Defense, released news on recent military-related issues.

reporter:It is reported that the Chinese and Russian naval vessels recently conducted joint exercises in the Gulf of Finland. Some media commented that this move is not only a display of strength, but also a warning to NATO. What is China's comment on this?

Zhang Xiaogang:Not long ago, the Chinese Navy's Jiaozuo and Honghu ships participated in the celebration of the 328th anniversary of the founding of the Russian Navy, and organized joint exercises with Russian ships in the waters of the Gulf of Finland. The Chinese Navy's Jiaozuo ship worked closely with the Russian Navy frigate to practice light weapons shooting, navigation supply, joint search and rescue, etc. During the exercise, the Chinese Navy's Honghu ship and the Russian Navy landing ship patrolled and guarded the surrounding waters. It should be emphasized that this joint exercise is a normal cooperation arrangement between the Chinese and Russian militaries, in line with international law and international practice, not aimed at any specific target, and has nothing to do with the current regional situation.
