Yangzi Evening News Network reported on August 16 (correspondent Junwei, Ma Yuan, Xinyue, reporter Chen Yong) There is a group of people, most of whom are in their 80s, and many of whom are already 100 years old. Their experiences are awe-inspiring. The reporter learned from the School of Social Development of Yangzhou University on the 16th that during the summer vacation, the oral history public welfare team of the school - the Anti-Japanese War Oral History Memory Inheritance Practice Team, rushed to various places in Jianghuai to visit veterans of the Anti-Japanese War and find historical traces in the narratives of eyewitnesses. Since 2014, they have visited more than 230 veterans of the Anti-Japanese War in more than 10 provinces across the country.

"After experiencing the Anti-Japanese War and the War of Liberation, I think I have a say in today's happy life." Wu Zhiwen, a 100-year-old veteran of the Anti-Japanese War, was already weak during the interview and had to take a breath after speaking a few sentences, but he still urged the students to love the motherland, remember the party's kindness, and follow the party closely. While listening, the volunteers recorded in detail the old man's heroic deeds and earnest advice in fighting against the Japanese invaders.

Firm eyes

Climbing snow-capped mountains, crossing rivers, and defending positions... Veteran Lu Shoushi had experienced the Battle of the Crossing the Yangtze River and the Battle of Shanghai, and also participated in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea. "With high spirits and high spirits, we crossed the Yalu River..." In the temperature of more than 40 degrees below zero, Lu Shoushi and his comrades wore only single clothes and pants, and many soldiers' feet were frozen.

During the interview, some elderly people who were originally bedridden insisted on sitting for the interview with the support of their families after seeing the young students, and shook hands with the students with all their strength. Many elderly people said that they were old and could not leave much behind, and hoped to make some contribution to enrich the historical materials of the War of Resistance with their own memories.

"Every veteran soldier is a living history of the War of Resistance." Yang Fang, the team's instructor, said that at the critical moment of the country and the nation, they carried an era on their shoulders, and they carried the immortal glory of national dignity.

Solemn Salute

The reporter learned that under the guidance of Secretary-General Li Chenxing, the team used a scroll several meters long to collect the handprints of veterans of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and invited the veterans to write their names and messages next to the handprints. "We must race against time!" After each interview, the team members did not dare to slack off and immediately began to organize the oral recordings into written historical materials. Many elderly people have strong accents, and some important times and places are often vague in their memory. The team members need to repeatedly scrutinize the content of the recordings and collect a large amount of historical materials to verify them, in order to ensure the authenticity and rigor of the transcriptions and improve the value of oral historical materials.

It is reported that this summer, the team has compiled more than 20 oral transcripts of veterans of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and taken more than 200 photos of veterans and their belongings. Afterwards, the team will visit many places to interview veterans of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and rescue and preserve precious historical materials. In the future, the team will publish a collection of oral histories of veterans of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and a collection of veterans' atlases. The scrolls collecting veterans' hand prints will also be exhibited in patriotic education bases and the Memorial Hall of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.
