The last dog days of summer have just passed, and the heat continues in Fenyang, located in central Shanxi. In front of the Seed Cinema Square, young filmmakers dressed in their best clothes and walked the red carpet one after another.
Slightly childish and youthful, the young filmmakers who walked the red carpet pay attention to diversity and express their thoughts. Their works focus on contemporary society, intimate relationships, family emotions and other themes.
This year's Jiajiazhuang Short Film Week received more than 2,200 entries from home and abroad. After rigorous review, a total of 38 works were shortlisted, divided into three major units: main competition, local forces and special screenings.
On the evening of the 15th, this year's Jiajiazhuang Short Film Week awarded nine honors in the main competition unit and the local force unit. In the main competition unit, the best film was "Dog", the jury honor was awarded to "Summer Period", the best director was Su Xunhui, the director of the short film "Dog", the best screenwriter was Gao Yanghuixiao, the screenwriter of "If", the best photography was the photography director Jia Tongyao of the short film "Bao Zida", and special commendations were awarded to "Don't Act" and "Going Red". In the local force unit, the best film was "Song of Broken Fingers", the best director was Geng Jiaqi, the director of the short film "Before the Rain", and special commendations were awarded to the short films "Ninety Springs" and "Bald Sheep".
Wang Baoqi, deputy mayor of Fenyang City, said that as the first youth film festival held in rural areas in China, Jiajiazhuang Short Film Week has always adhered to its original aspirations over the past eight years, taking root in rural areas and cultivating fertile soil, allowing high-quality global images to gather in rural areas, rediscovering the world in rural areas, and growing with rural areas.
"The Fenyang training base of Shanxi Institute of Media and Shanxi Film Academy, located in Jiajiazhuang, is about to be put into operation, the relevant industrial chain is being improved, and a diversified and integrated cultural exchange platform is being built." Wang Baoqi said that Fenyang's business card of "cultural city" will become brighter and brighter.
Fenyang Jiajiazhuang, from the 20th century to the present, many films including "Young People in Our Village" and "Three Years in Advance" are closely related to this village in Shanxi.
Eight years ago, the Jiajiazhuang Short Film Week was born. Many young filmmakers started from here and gradually grew into a new force in Chinese film.
Eight years ago, director Chen Zhuo took his short film to participate in the first 86358 Jiajiazhuang Short Film Week.
Eight years later, Chen Zhuo has grown into a judge of the final jury of the Local Power Unit of Jiajiazhuang Short Film Week.
In his opinion, Jiajiazhuang Short Film Week is like a nursery for discovering talents for Chinese films.
"In eight years, some people have grown from immaturity to maturity, while others have left the industry." Chen Zhuo said that he hopes young filmmakers can always be immersed in the pain and joy of film creation.
The director of the short film "Before the Rain" Geng Jiaqi is from Taiyuan, Shanxi, and later went abroad to study.
"The keyword for the first half of my life seems to have been escape. I started from Taiyuan, Shanxi, went to Beijing, and then went to Guangdong to shoot a Guangdong story from the perspective of Shanxi people. Finally, I won the first award in the 86358 Short Film Week." Geng Jiaqi said, "My hometown Shanxi seems to have always encouraged me to move forward bravely."
Over the past eight years, Jiajiazhuang Short Film Week has not only focused on discovering and exploring more young creators with creativity and potential, but also served as a professional platform for short film exhibition, exchange and promotion. During the event, Jiajiazhuang Short Film Week invited well-known domestic film practitioners, scholars, film critics, etc. to focus on film art expression, talk about their experiences, and share their creative experiences.
In this regard, director Yang Lina said that winning awards is not the only criterion for evaluating the quality of a film, and "the future of film belongs to every young filmmaker." (End)
