On August 14, local time in Switzerland, when the sunset gently sprinkled over the ancient city of Locarno, the 77th Locarno International Film Festival ushered in a unique Chinese short film sharing session: a short film sharing session by Chinese emerging directors. This event was planned by the well-known filmmaker Li Ying, and was honored to receive strong support and participation from the Consulate General of Switzerland in Guangzhou, the South China Branch of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in China, the Ticino Branch of the Swiss-Chinese Economic Association, and the Locarno Film Festival. This event is not only an exchange and collision of film art, but also a brilliant chapter of the deep integration of Chinese and Swiss cultures. It aims to build a bridge to allow the emerging voices of Chinese films to cross mountains and seas, resonate with the Swiss and even European film world, and jointly explore and present more diverse and profound Chinese stories.
At the promotion meeting, three short films directed by talented young Chinese directors, "Swimming Lesson", "Jenny" and "Ripples", were screened in turn. They were like three bright stars, shining brightly under the sky of Locarno. Directors Deng Lianghong, Song Junle and Xu Cong were present at the event, and participated in this event with many international filmmakers and guests. They not only shared the creative process behind the film, but also enthusiastically looked forward to their upcoming new film plans, showing the vigorous innovation and unlimited imagination of the new generation of Chinese filmmakers.
As night fell, this feast of light and shadow slowly came to an end, but the dialogue it inspired about culture, art and dreams spread like ripples around the world. At this important moment when China and Sweden are about to usher in the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, this promotion conference is not only a tribute to the past friendship, but also an expectation for a new chapter of future cooperation. It indicates that in the days to come, Chinese and Swedish filmmakers will go hand in hand, with a more open attitude, to jointly explore the infinite possibilities of film art, let Chinese stories bloom more brilliantly on the global stage, and continue to write a new chapter of glory in cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Sweden.
