Behind the bustling and noisy world, there is a group of people who, with their love and persistence for art, practice quietly in ordinary life.
The path of artistic practitioners is not paved with flowers and applause, but more with loneliness and persistence. They often face canvases, musical instruments, and manuscripts alone in a quiet studio, trying, revising, and perfecting over and over again.
A painter may wait in front of the same scene for days in order to capture the changes in light and shadow at that moment; a musician may practice repeatedly until his fingers are sore in order to achieve a perfect note; a writer may ponder under the light late at night in order to find the most appropriate words.
Their efforts are not always seen by the world, but they have never stopped their devout pursuit of art.
In Xicheng Village, there is a self-taught peasant painter named Chen Zhizhong. For more than 50 years, no matter how the world changes, he has stayed in a corner of the village and painted his favorite paintings.
Chen Zhizhong is not good at expressing himself and always has a shy smile on his face, but he can use his strong hands to paint an apple, lively prawns, lush plants and portraits of celebrities vividly.
