On August 15, local time, at the invitation of Turkish President Erdogan, Palestinian President Abbas delivered a speech at a special meeting of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Abbas said,He has decided to go to Gaza with all the Palestinian leadership.
Abbas said that since October 7 last year, more than 40,000 Palestinians have been killed, including many women and children. Two-thirds of the infrastructure in the Gaza Strip has been destroyed, and the Palestinian people are facing the plight of being homeless.
Abbas said that the international community should not remain silent about Israel's crimes and all parties should work together to stop Israel's crimes. Abbas called on Israel to release more than 10,000 Palestinians imprisoned in prisons.
Abbas said that Gaza is an integral part of the State of Palestine. The Gaza Strip, East Jerusalem and the West Bank are a complete geographical unit and an independent Palestinian state in accordance with international law. With the support of regional countries, Palestine will rebuild Gaza and establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Abbas said that military means will not bring any results, and political means will bring peace. Abbas also thanked Turkey for its consistent support for Palestine.
The Turkish Grand National Assembly entered its summer recess on July 30 and held a special meeting specifically for Abbas' speech.
