China's top ten technological innovations for carbon peak and carbon neutrality in 2023 released

The 2024 Green and Low-Carbon Innovation Conference opened in Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province on August 15. The top ten scientific and technological innovations in China's carbon peak and carbon neutrality in 2023 were released on the spot, covering hydrogen energy technology, CCUS (carbon capture, utilization and storage) technology, low-carbon power technology, carbon monitoring and evaluation technology, carbon sink technology, low-carbon management and other fields.

The Paper (www.thepaper.cn) learned from the conference organizing committee that in order to further reflect the cutting-edge achievements in the dual carbon field, the organizing committee organized relevant scientific and technological innovation selections in the early stage, and received a total of 52 application materials from Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Xiamen University, Tianjin University, West Lake University, China Meteorological Science Academy, China Energy Group Science and Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd. and other institutions.
The finalists for the "Top Ten Technological Innovations in China's Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality in 2023" are: key technologies and applications for carbon dioxide capture and utilization; catalytic reforming treatment and hydrogen production technology for anaerobic fermentation of organic waste; research and development of international "new three-can" standard carbon source and sink monitoring and calibration support system; low-carbon and flexible key technologies for coal-fired power for new power systems; carbon sink measurement and monitoring method system for blue carbon trading projects; natural working fluid CO2 cycle theory and technology; Chengdu Green Recycling Technology Industrial Park food waste resource utilization project; key technologies and industrial applications for green resource conversion of trifluoromethane, a strong greenhouse gas controlled by the Convention; key technologies and applications for clean, low-carbon, intelligent management and control of provincial coal-fired power generation; and "cloud surface pile car" residential area electric vehicle orderly charging plan.
According to reports, the anaerobic fermentation of organic waste slurry catalytic reforming treatment and hydrogen production technology has created catalytic reforming for slurry treatment and hydrogen production, achieving wastewater discharge standards and efficient utilization of organic energy, which can serve my country's annual production of 10 billion cubic meters of biogas projects, with a carbon emission reduction potential of nearly 10 million tons. The theory and technology of natural working fluid CO2 circulation has established a key technology system for carbon dioxide capture and resource utilization. The carbon dioxide ice making technology developed was first used in the Beijing Winter Olympics. The world's first carbon dioxide diesel engine waste heat recovery system has been developed, and the absolute value of the thermal efficiency improvement exceeds the best international level. The "Yunbiao Pile Car" residential electric vehicle orderly charging solution uses independently developed orderly charging modules and self-developed vehicle information interaction modules to open up a two-way communication link between vehicle-pile-meter-concentrator-master station to achieve optimal control of electric vehicle charging power and time.
Green, low-carbon and high-quality development is the common pursuit of all mankind. The Paper learned that this Green and Low-Carbon Innovation Conference will focus on green technology innovation, energy green transformation, low-carbon talent gathering, and ecological science popularization, and will include three major sections: opening ceremony, parallel academic exchanges and mass activities.
During the conference, the 96th Executive Committee of the World Federation of Science and Technology Workers held a seminar on green and low-carbon development and the responsibilities of scientists, and issued the "Green and Low-Carbon Development Initiative", calling on global scientific and technological workers to face the urgent challenges of climate change and sustainable development. They must transcend national and disciplinary boundaries, further strengthen openness, exchanges and cooperation, and use high-level scientific research and technological innovation to support the only chance to save the earth and build a more united, peaceful, green and prosperous world.
During the conference, a series of activities for the National Ecological Day on August 15 were organized, including demonstrations of green and low-carbon technology application scenarios and green and low-carbon citizen actions, to advocate a green and healthy production and lifestyle to the masses and spread the concepts of energy conservation, carbon reduction and green development.
