China News Service, Dongguan, August 15 (Reporter Suo Youwei and Sun Qiuxia) The second meeting of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development Business Roundtable was held in Dongguan on the 15th. Trade and investment promotion agencies, major business associations, large enterprises from the Greater Bay Area gathered together to discuss how to cultivate new quality productivity and activate the development momentum of the Greater Bay Area.

In 2023, the total economic output of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will exceed RMB 14 trillion. With less than 0.6% of the country's land area, it has created one-ninth of the total economic output, and its comprehensive strength has been further improved. In the development of new productivity, Hong Kong has an international institutional environment, strong scientific research capabilities, a complete financial service system, and the regional synergy advantages of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Zhuang Zixiong, Chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, said that the future development momentum of the Greater Bay Area requires the organic combination of emerging industries and traditional industries. Hong Kong has accumulated a lot of intangible assets, including intellectual property, design, research, marketing and other aspects, which can drive the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries. At present, Hong Kong is promoting new industrialization and needs Guangdong's talents and technology. Guangdong enterprises can take advantage of Hong Kong's advantages in connecting with the world when going overseas.

Liang Huafeng, executive member of the Administrative Committee of the Macao Investment Promotion Bureau, said that as one of the four central cities in the Greater Bay Area, Macao can provide a platform and support for all sectors in the Greater Bay Area to transform and innovate, strengthen cooperation and expand business.

Liang Huafeng further pointed out that Macau can promote the internal and external connection of the Greater Bay Area with high-precision docking. From the perspective of "hard connectivity", Macau International Airport has 41 passenger routes and 16 cargo routes, which facilitates the flow of people, logistics and capital between Macau and international metropolises. From the perspective of "soft connectivity", Macau maintains extensive and deep connections with 9 Portuguese-speaking countries, allowing Macau to better play the role of a bridge between China and Portugal.

The business roundtable mechanism for the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was jointly initiated by the Guangdong Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade's Hong Kong Representative Office, and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade's Macao Representative Office. There are currently 48 first-batch member units. It is expected that a roundtable meeting will be held every quarter, which will be held in turn in the 11 cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Chen Xiaofeng, president of the Guangdong Council for the Promotion of International Trade (Guangdong International Chamber of Commerce), expressed his hope to make good use of the round-table meeting system to strengthen cooperation between Hong Kong, Macao and cities such as Dongguan, integrate the Greater Bay Area's industrial, innovation, financial, and talent resources, and work together with the business community at home and abroad to implement the new positioning of "one point and two places".
