On August 15, the Second Western Hydrogen Energy Expo, co-organized by the Shaanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission and the Yulin Municipal People's Government, was held at the Yulin Convention and Exhibition Center. With the theme of "New Quality Leading the Future with Hydrogen", the conference, based on the development practice of Shaanxi's hydrogen energy industry, extensively discussed the hydrogen energy industry policies, technologies and development trends, and strived to build a high-level and in-depth hydrogen energy industry exchange and cooperation platform in the west, contributing to the country's acceleration of the construction of a new energy system and the promotion of high-quality energy development.

At the meeting, Liu Qi, deputy director of the Shaanxi Provincial Energy Bureau, announced Shaanxi's policies to support the construction of highway hydrogen refueling stations and the passage of hydrogen-powered vehicles. In addition to exempting relevant hydrogen-powered vehicles from highway tolls, the policy also provides subsidies for highway hydrogen refueling stations: starting from September 1, 2024, for fixed hydrogen refueling stations with a daily hydrogen refueling capacity of more than 500 kilograms built on highways in Shaanxi Province, the investment entity of the hydrogen refueling station will be subsidized at 30% of the actual construction investment (excluding land costs), and the maximum subsidy amount for a single station shall not exceed 3 million yuan. This policy will end on September 1, 2027.

In addition, Shaanxi will accelerate the construction of two inter-city hydrogen energy corridors, "Yulin-Yan'an-Xi'an" and "Xi'an-Weinan-Hancheng". On the premise of meeting safety standards, it will support the use of existing land to renovate (expand) hydrogen refueling stations. The land use for hydrogen refueling stations attached to highway service areas will be implemented in accordance with the land use model for the construction of gas refueling stations attached to highway service areas. By 2025, a total of five highway service area hydrogen refueling comprehensive energy stations will be completed in Fuping, Sanyuan, Ganquan, Hengshan and Yulin South along the Beijing-Kunming Expressway and Baomao Expressway.
