According to The Verge, Valve has confirmed that SteamOS will support ASUS ROG Ally and other third-party handhelds. The news was revealed by Valve designer Lawrence Yang in the latest SteamOS update notes.

Lawrence Yang said: "The explanation about the ROG Ally button is related to the support of SteamOS for third-party devices. The team is continuing to work on adding SteamOS support for more handheld devices."

Although SteamOS has made significant progress on devices such as ROG Ally, Lawrence Yang also emphasized that the operating system is not yet directly applicable to these devices and needs further development. He also revealed that Valve is preparing Windows drivers for Steam Deck OLED and has made progress in achieving dual-boot functionality.

However, regarding the specific timeline for dual-boot support, Yang said there is no new update yet: "Dual-boot support is still a priority, but we haven't fully implemented it yet."

This news is undoubtedly exciting for users who want to use SteamOS on more devices, especially those who own third-party handheld consoles such as ROG Ally.
