The UK Civil Aviation Authority announced on the 15th that it has selected six projects to test the use of drones in delivery, infrastructure inspection and emergency services.
Currently, drone users in the UK can only fly beyond visual range in strictly restricted trials, according to Reuters. As part of the test, the selected projects will be able to use advanced navigation, control and detection technology of other aircraft to fly drones beyond the visual range of the drone operator.

Projects involved in the test include Amazon's drone delivery service, inspection of offshore wind farms, and delivery of medical supplies.
The UK Civil Aviation Authority said the test projects would help regulators develop policies and regulations to enable drone flights to be "fully integrated" with other airspace users.
Sophie O'Sullivan, director of the Civil Aviation Authority, said: "Our ambition is to make beyond visual line of sight (BLOS) drone operations a safe, everyday reality."
