Alvarez & Marsal expands into North Asia; new managing director is one of the pioneers of consulting in China

On August 14, Alvarez & Marsal announced the appointment of Zhu Wei as Managing Director and Co-Chairman of North Asia.

Founded in 1983, Alvarez & Marsal is a global provider of consulting and business performance improvement and turnaround services. The company is currently expanding its business around the world, announcing a series of senior management appointments in the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Zhu Wei is one of the pioneers of China's consulting industry. He has 35 years of experience in management consulting, investment banking and private equity, spanning many fields such as automobiles, manufacturing, consumer products, telecommunications, logistics, high-tech and financial services. Prior to joining A&M, he served as Chairman of Accenture Greater China and member of the Global Management Committee. Previously, he also held leadership positions at Kearney, Roland Berger, Goldman Sachs, CVC Capital and Standard Chartered Private Equity.

Between 2020 and 2024, the number of professional consultants in North Asia tripled to more than 340. Between 2022 and 2023, Alvarez-Martin North Asia achieved a 150% revenue growth.
