The Sichuan-Qinghai Railway starts from Chengdu East Station, passes through Chengdu City, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Haidong City, Xining City, Qinghai Province, and connects to Xining Station. The main line is about 836 kilometers long with a designed speed of 200 kilometers per hour. It is a national Class I double-track railway. The Chengdu East to Qingbaijiang East section of the Sichuan-Qinghai Railway and the Haidong East to Xining section share the same line with the Xi'an-Chengdu High-speed Railway and the Lanzhou-Xinjiang High-speed Railway and have been put into operation. The Qingbaijiang East to Zhenjiangguan section was opened for operation on November 28, 2023.
The section under test this time is from Zhenjiangguan to Huangshengguan, with a total length of about 70 kilometers and a designed speed of 200 kilometers per hour. Three new stations will be built, namely Songpan, Huanglong Jiuzhai and Huangshengguan. Construction of the line started in September 2014, track laying was completed on the entire line in June 2024, the joint commissioning and testing phase began on July 21, and the test phase began on August 13.
The Zhenjiangguan to Huangshengguan section of the Sichuan-Qinghai Railway is an important part of the Lanzhou, Xining to Guangzhou corridor of my country's "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed rail network. After the opening of the line, it will greatly facilitate the travel of people of all ethnic groups along the line, and is of great significance to promoting economic and social development along the line and maintaining national unity.
