IT Home reported on August 13 that the Vietnamese government announced plans to provide electricity price subsidies for electric vehicle charging stations to reduce usage costs and promote the popularization of electric vehicles. This subsidy plan will be submitted to the central government in mid-September and await approval.

Vietnam plans to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and currently has more than 150,000 car charging ports, most of which are owned and operated by VinFast (IT Home Note: Vietnam's new car-making force, affiliated to Vietnam's largest private enterprise Vingroup, which became Vietnam's largest car seller in just 21 months).

Vietnam will ensure all urban areas have public electric vehicle charging systems and will issue unified technical standards for these stations by the end of this month, the statement said.

The Vietnamese government said in a statement that "green energy transformation is an important task to achieve green development goals and fulfill Vietnam's international commitments." According to the statement, Vietnam will formulate other incentives in the future to promote the production and import of electric vehicles and encourage consumers to switch to purchasing and using electric vehicles.
