IT Home reported on August 14 that at the Pixel 9 series mobile phone launch conference held by Google today,It launched a new image-generating app called Pixel Studio and said it would come pre-installed on every Pixel 9 series phone.
Users can enter a prompt word in the Pixel Studio app to ask it to generate an image. The Google Pixel Studio app uses local operation to generate images based on Google's own Imagen 3 model. It mainly generates artistic style images, while the effect of realistic style images is relatively poor. For example, the generation of the following kitten takes no more than 2 seconds.
The Google Pixel Studio app relies on the Google Tensor G4 SoC chip to generate images. If users want better content, they can call Gemini to generate images in the cloud. IT Home attaches a demonstration video as follows:
Once a set of images is generated, the chatbot interface doesn’t offer any editing capabilities. However, Google also announced improvements to the Gemini overlay feature today, which will allow AI-generated images to be dragged and dropped directly into emails or chats.
The launch of the Pixel Studio app comes just weeks after Apple unveiled its own AI-powered image maker for the iPhone, dubbed Image Playground, which is expected to launch alongside other Apple Intelligence features and compete with other features in Google’s Gemini app.
