Xinhua News Agency, Moscow, August 13 (Reporter Zhao Bing) Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with visiting Palestinian President Abbas in Novo-Ogaryovo, Moscow Oblast on the 13th and said that solving the Palestinian issue must implement relevant UN resolutions, starting with the resolution to establish a Palestinian state.
According to the Russian presidential website, Putin said during the talks that Russia is deeply concerned about the humanitarian disaster happening in Palestine. Russia has always advocated a peaceful solution to the Palestinian issue. The root cause of the problem is that the decisions on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state that have long been adopted by international organizations including the United Nations have been "ignored." Russia reiterated that in order to ensure long-term stability and peace in the region, it is necessary to implement all UN resolutions, and the first thing is to establish a Palestinian state.
Abbas said during the talks, "We hope that the Palestinian people can have their own state." He said that since 1947, the UN General Assembly and the UN Security Council have adopted more than 1,000 resolutions on the Palestinian issue, but due to the actions and pressure of the United States, not a single resolution that can ensure the realization of the rights of the Palestinian people has been implemented.
According to TASS, Abbas arrived in Moscow on the 12th at the invitation of Putin. (End)
