The South Korean team won a total of 32 medals in the Paris Olympics, and South Korean media cheered: The results far exceeded expectations before the opening!
On August 11, local time, the 33rd Summer Olympic Games closed in Paris, France. Many Korean media, including Chosun Ilbo, JoongAng Ilbo, and Korea Economic Daily, concluded that the Korean team won 13 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 10 bronze medals in the Paris Olympics, tying the number of gold medals won by Korea in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics. JoongAng Ilbo said that before the opening ceremony, the country generally believed that "this Olympics will be the most difficult challenge in history", but the Korean team won 32 medals, a result "far beyond expectations".
According to the above-mentioned Korean media reports, South Korea sent 144 athletes to the Paris Olympics, which is the smallest number since the 1976 Montreal Olympics (50 people). In addition, since team ball games such as men's football failed to enter the finals, the Korean Sports Association (Korea Olympic Committee) did not have high expectations for this Olympics and set a gold medal target of 5. However, the Korean team finally won 13 gold medals, more than double the target, so "the results are even more dazzling."

The Chosun Ilbo said that South Korea won 32 medals in this Olympics, the second highest result in history after the 1988 Seoul Olympics (33 medals), and the same as the 2008 Beijing Olympics (32 medals). The report also mentioned that the 13 gold medals tied the gold medal record of the Korean sports delegation in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics.
According to reports, South Korea's gold medals in this Olympics are mainly concentrated in five events: archery, shooting, fencing, taekwondo and badminton, with a relatively simple distribution. In comparison, there were 16 events in the 2008 Beijing Olympics (8 of which won gold medals) and 14 events in the 2012 London Olympics (7 of which won gold medals). Therefore, the report said, this time the diversity of events is inferior.
Regarding the results achieved by the South Korean team in this Olympics, many South Korean netizens left messages under the report saying, "This is the result achieved by the athletes with their sweat and hard work" and "Thank you for your outstanding performance."
