“This film is about love and courage.”
……
After the screening of "Dragon Guardians", the children in the audience expressed their feelings.
On August 11, the Chao News·Miaozheli Film Group held an advance screening of the animated film "Dragon Guardians" at Parkview Cinema (Kerry Center Branch). Many parents brought their children to watch the movie.
This film is adapted from the fantasy novel of the same name by Australian writer Carole Wilkinson. It tells the adventure story of Ping, the last dragon keeper, and her friends as they protect the last dragon egg in the world.
The word most mentioned by the children after watching the movie was "brave". The protagonist Ping in the movie became a qualified dragon guardian through her continuous efforts. Many children said that they wanted to be as brave as her, "to protect others in dangerous situations and face everything bravely."
Faced with the superpower settings in the film, the children also imagined what they would do if they had superpowers.
A four-year-old child said calmly: "I will help others."
Another four-year-old had a wild idea: "I want to travel back in time and see what I did in the past!"
Film critic Lin Wei also gave a favorable review after watching the film. He believed that as a Sino-Western co-production animation film, Dragon Guardians used relatively exquisite images to interpret the global cognition of Eastern culture. This cognition can be understood at three levels:
First, the theme is about the growth of a teenager, with love and courage as the core values, which are common emotions around the world. Children from all over the world will be moved by such stories.
Second, the story features a kind dragon as the protagonist, which corrects the Western stereotype and huge misunderstanding of the dragon as a Chinese totem. In the film, the use of single characters such as Ping and Kai as names and the understanding of "qi" as a kind of energy are all manifestations of Western cognition, which makes the film have a strong sense of globalization.
Third, the pursuit of harmonious coexistence between humans and alien beasts breaks both Western-centrism and human-centrism, and is a good embodiment of the common values of all mankind. Lin Wei said that the dialogue between Chinese and Western civilizations is very important, and starting from the perspective of animated films, "Dragon Guardians" is an excellent attempt.
On August 17, the movie "Dragon Guardians" will be released nationwide. Bring your friends to explore the adventure of love and courage!
