The gaming industry is a cycle. In addition to the continuous release of new blockbusters, many old games are occasionally repackaged and released. Some people think that this is a "reheating of old games", but there are also nostalgic fans who support it. Recently, a Rockstar game from 14 years ago was reported to be launched on the PC.
Today, foreign blogger Wario64 came to the conclusion that the PC version of "Red Dead Redemption" will be released soon through the news on the PlayStation store page. Because in the game introduction interface, the following words are displayed: "Experience the epic adventure of the western wilderness that defined the gaming generation, presented for the first time through the PC version."
"Red Dead Redemption" is an indispensable monument in the history of Rockstar game development. It was released on PS3/Xbox360 on May 18th. It tells the story of John Marston, a former outlaw who has retired from the underworld and is forced to hunt down his former gang partners under the threat of federal agents.
That year, the game won the TGA Game of the Year Award and sold more than 10 million copies. "Red Dead Redemption 2", launched in 2018, is a prequel to the first game. The cumulative sales of the series have now exceeded 70 million copies.
Last year, Rockstar ported Red Dead Redemption to PS4 and NS. The good news is that the optimization is quite good, but the bad news is that Rockstar did not remake the optimized content and graphics. This made many players who were looking forward to the next-generation version very angry.
Regarding the PC version of Red Dead Redemption, the official still did not mention the content remake. The game introduction shows that the PC version mainly includes the following contents:
“It features all the content of both versions, including the bonus content of the Game of the Year Edition and all the upgrades of the 2023 console version, as well as PC-specific enhancements including higher resolution, higher frame rate, stereo surround sound, etc.”
From the perspective of players, the PC port of Red Dead Redemption is still a bit tasteless. As a game released 14 years ago, its graphics and operation are difficult to match the habits of modern players. Even compared with the second generation, Red Dead Redemption is a product of two different generations. Even so, many people are calling on Rockstar to launch a PS5 version of the second generation.
At this stage, Rockstar has not responded to the PC version of Red Dead Redemption. But it is foreseeable that if it is just a simple PC port, it will be difficult to generate people's desire to buy it.
So what are your expectations for this TGA Game of the Year award 14 years ago?
