According to the Panhellenic Pharmaceutical Association, the affected drugs include serums, antibiotics, antidepressants and anti-inflammatory drugs. The price increases range from small adjustments to a huge increase of up to 448%.
Specifically, the prices of 445 drugs will increase by 0.01 to 0.99 euros, the prices of 152 drugs will increase by 1 to 1.99 euros, the prices of 90 drugs will increase by 2 to 2.99 euros, the prices of 50 drugs will increase by 3 to 3.99 euros, and the prices of 59 drugs will increase by 4 to 4.99 euros.
The president of the Panhellenic Pharmaceutical Association, Apostolos Valtas, explained that these price increases are aimed at stabilizing the market, noting that many medicines are currently sold at unsustainably low prices, which can lead to shortages or withdrawals, forcing patients to seek alternative, often more expensive treatments, or import medicines at higher costs.
