Although the Borderlands movie was released last week and was a double blow to critics and the box office, the news of the new game has ignited the hopes of fans.

Gearbox Software is working on a new Borderlands game, though little concrete information is available about it at this time. In a post on X/Twitter, Borderlands creator Randy Pitchford put a positive spin on the plight of film adaptations while also building momentum for Borderlands 4.

"So what you're saying is: you prefer what my friends and I do with Borderlands to what the best and most powerful filmmaking teams in the world are doing," Pitchford wrote. "I'm honored! We're working hard on bringing you the next one..."

Earlier this year, a fourth game in the Borderlands series was confirmed following Take-Two Interactive's acquisition of Gearbox Software. Gearbox was previously acquired by Embracer Group, but just two years later, Embracer began a restructuring that resulted in the closure or sale of some of its recently acquired studios. For months, there had been signs that Embracer was looking to sell Gearbox as part of a restructuring plan, with the deal officially announced in March. The Borderlands games had previously been published by Take-Two's 2K Games, so it made sense for the two companies to finally reunite.

Although the movie version of "Borderlands" failed to be successful, the development of the new game has begun, which is undoubtedly a great news for "Borderlands" fans. Let us look forward to Gearbox Software bringing us a more exciting "Borderlands" game experience!
