As the situation in the Middle East continues to become tense, especially as Iran threatens to launch a military strike against Israel, the United States continues to send additional troops and weapons to the Middle East.
On August 8, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin III said in a phone call with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant that the United States will deploy more ballistic missile defense assets and U.S. F-22 Raptor fighter jets to prevent unprovoked Iranian attacks.
At this point, one has to wonder how many U.S. troops and U.S. bases are currently located in the region.
Of course, in theory, this is a confidential issue. In any country, the distribution of troops and military bases is not a topic that can be discussed privately.
But based on public data and media investigations, the United States controls at least 64 bases in the region, although it is difficult to confirm whether all of them are active.
64 military bases may seem like a lot, but compared to the more than 800 military bases the United States has around the world, it is not that many.
