Overseas Network, August 12According to a report on the Singapore Lianhe Zaobao website on August 11, recently, the US e-commerce giant Amazon has stepped up its efforts to attract Chinese sellers to its site, aiming to counter rivals such as Temu, a Chinese e-commerce company known for its low prices, by adding more price-competitive goods.
According to the report, in order to further deepen cooperation with Chinese sellers, Amazon has set up offices in Wuhan, Hubei Province and Zhengzhou, Henan Province, striving to establish new cooperative relationships with local factories and small and medium-sized sellers. Qiu Sheng, vice president of Amazon China, revealed that in 2024, Amazon will hold dozens of events in China, covering thousands of sellers.
According to data from the US research company Global Wireless Solutions, in 2023, the average daily usage time of US consumers on Amazon apps was 11 minutes, while that of Temu reached 22 minutes. Temu has successfully attracted a large number of young consumers by frequently issuing coupons, becoming a competitor that Amazon cannot ignore. According to an analysis by the US Bernstein Research Company, in 2024, the total circulation of Temu in the United States will reach 17 billion US dollars (about 122 billion yuan), and the number of monthly active users will be close to 50 million.
