The SK Hydropower Station is located on the Kunha River in the Mansehra area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in northwestern Pakistan. It is one of the first list projects of the "China-Pakistan Economic Corridor" and the largest greenfield hydropower investment project by Chinese companies abroad. The main construction of the project started in June 2020, and a total of 4 impulse turbine generator sets with a single unit capacity of 221 MW were installed.

After the power station is fully put into operation, it can provide 3.212 billion kWh of clean electricity per year, solving one-fifth of Pakistan's electricity shortage, which is equivalent to saving about 1.28 million tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 3.2 million tons per year. It can provide economical and high-quality clean electricity for more than 1 million Pakistani households, greatly alleviating the power shortage in Pakistan's power grid. It can also be used in conjunction with other cascade reservoirs downstream to effectively reduce flood disasters and flood diversion losses in the downstream area, and accelerate local economic and social development.
