Yunxi County is an old revolutionary base with a profound red cultural heritage. Li Xiannian, He Long, Xu Xiangqian, Cheng Zihua, Xu Haidong and others led their troops to "enter and exit" Yunxi nine times. The Fourth Front Army of the Red Army fought a bloody battle in Yunling in Shangjin Town, the Third Army of the Red Army established a red regime in Baiyanzhai, and the 25th Army of the Red Army established the Hubei, Henan and Shaanxi Revolutionary Base here, and its activities lasted for two years and eight months. The 25th Army of the Red Army was the first Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army to arrive in northern Shaanxi, and was praised by Chairman Mao as "the guide of the Central Red Army" and "made great contributions to the Chinese revolution."

The revolutionary struggle of the 25th Red Army was magnificent. Yunxi County has always been at the forefront of the struggle and a stable rear base. More than 160 young and middle-aged people joined the Red Army, and more than 1,000 people joined the local guerrillas and the anti-donation army and anti-donation team. In July 2021, the National Cultural Park Construction Leading Group included Yunxi in the "four lines" construction scope of the overall spatial framework of the "one axis and four lines" planning of the Long March National Cultural Park.
