The most well-known explorer in the 21st century is none other than Bear Grylls, who is known as the man who “stands at the top of the food chain.” But if we go back a century, in the early 20th century, there was an African explorer named Martin Johnson, who traveled all over the world, from the coral islands of the South China Sea to the black forests of Africa. He also photographed thousands of lions and was the first person to bring back photos of cannibals to the United States.

Martin Johnson has taken thousands of photos of lions in the wilds of Africa and has killed two lions himself. Some explorers who have gone to Africa always boast about their experiences fighting wild beasts there. But Johnson believes that if a person really understands the character of African beasts, then he can walk safely from the capital of Egypt in the north to the Cape of Good Hope in the south of Africa with only a bamboo cane.

So even though he stayed in Africa for a year and a half, he never fired a shot, and sometimes he didn't even bring a gun with him when he went out.
