At 20:36 on August 11, 2024, Hengshanqiao Town, Changzhou Economic Development Zone encountered severe convective weather. Lightning caused the pavilion in Fangmaoshan Park to collapse, and people hiding from the rain were trapped in the pavilion. After the incident, the public security, emergency, fire, health and other departments at the municipal and district levels fully carried out rescue and disposal. As of 23:00, the search and rescue work was over, and all 16 injured were sent to the hospital for treatment, including 6 seriously injured. As of about 2:00 on August 12, 6 seriously injured people died after all-out rescue efforts, and the remaining 10 people were in stable condition. Special personnel have been arranged to comfort their families and the injured. At present, investigations and aftermath handling are being actively carried out.
