Recently, South Korean regulatory authorities investigated the promotional pages of microneedle-related cosmetics on the Internet and found thatMore than 80% of the propaganda is false and exaggerated

Recently, the Korean Food and Drug Safety Agency conducted a survey on 100 microneedle-related cosmetics promotional pages on the Internet. The results showed that 82 of them involved false and exaggerated propaganda, violating the Korean Cosmetics Law.For example, statements such as "microneedles can penetrate deep into the skin", "promote cell growth", "detoxify the skin", and "enhance immunity" are beyond the definition of cosmetics and can easily mislead consumers into thinking that cosmetics are medicines. Currently, the Korean Food and Drug Safety Agency has notified relevant departments to block relevant web pages and contacted local jurisdiction departments to conduct in-depth investigations on the responsible parties for the sales of relevant cosmetics.

According to official information from the Korean Food and Drug Safety Administration, microneedles are originally used in the fields of medicine and medical devices by penetrating the skin to allow drugs to act on deep tissues such as the dermis. However, the relevant ingredients in microneedle cosmetics do not penetrate the surface of the skin, but only increase the contact area between the skin and the cosmetics through pressure, thereby exerting their effects. In other words, microneedle products that can enter the dermis must obtain safety certification for pharmaceuticals.
