Hafiz Bakhit, acting governor of Sudan's North Darfur state, issued a statement on the 11th saying that Sudan's Rapid Support Forces launched an attack on the state capital of El Fasher on the 10th.28 civilians were killed and 46 were injured.

The statement said that the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces attacked El Fasher from three directions at dawn on the 10th and shelled the city's markets, civilian facilities and residential houses, but were repelled by the Sudanese Armed Forces and local armed forces in Darfur, and the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces suffered heavy losses.

Sudan's Rapid Support Forces has not yet responded.

Since May 10 this year, the Sudanese Armed Forces and local armed forces have been engaged in fierce fighting with the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces in El Fasher over the control of North Darfur, causing a large number of civilian casualties. Currently, the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces have controlled the other four states in Western Darfur except North Darfur.

On April 15, 2023, an armed conflict broke out between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Sudan Rapid Support Forces in the capital Khartoum, and the fighting subsequently spread to other areas. The ongoing conflict has killed about 18,800 people in Sudan and displaced more than 10.17 million people.
