According to Bloomberg on the 11th, Iran's acting foreign minister reiterated that Iran is determined to punish Israel for the killing of a senior Hamas leader in Tehran last month.
Iranian Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri said in a statement released by the Iranian Foreign Ministry in the early hours of the 11th that "Iran will use legal and resolute measures to make Israel pay the price for its violations." However, he did not disclose the specific scale and time of the retaliation plan.
Bagheri made the remarks during a phone call with Belgian Foreign Minister Rabib, the statement said, stressing that Iran's response would be "in line with the principles of defending national security, territorial integrity and sovereignty, and based on international law, global norms and the UN Charter."
The comments were reportedly another escalation in a series of statements by Iranian officials that they plan to "severely punish" Israel for the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, saying retaliation against Israel is inevitable. Israel has neither admitted nor denied responsibility for Haniyeh's death.
