A brigade of the 73rd Group Army
Tempering combat skills at high temperatures
Liberation Army Daily News Li Jian, Mao YingchunReport: In midsummer, as an alarm sounded, a real-combat training of a brigade of the 73rd Group Army began.
"All teams have completed their formation in the designated area!" After receiving the notification, the tank teams dispersed and moved forward quickly. Under the scorching sun, the temperature inside the tanks continued to rise, and the officers and soldiers participating in the training soon became sweaty.
"Attack!" As soon as they entered the mission area, the command from the command and control group came. The tank squad quickly changed into a battle formation and launched a fire attack on the "enemy" frontier fortifications. The heat was steaming in the tank, and the officers and soldiers were sweating and fighting continuously.
"Fighting is not about weather, and troops must have all-weather combat capabilities. High temperature and complex conditions are conducive to tempering officers and soldiers." The brigade leader introduced that in recent times, they have been closely following the functional tasks of the troops, taking advantage of the continuous high temperature in the training area, organizing practical training in the whole process and all elements to improve the combat skills of officers and soldiers under high temperature conditions. They also selected elite forces to form a "blue army" team, and carried out special situation handling throughout the training process, adopting a method of no notice and random guidance, forcing officers and soldiers to continuously strengthen their awareness of the enemy situation and improve their emergency response capabilities.
"A booby trap appeared in the passage" and "A small group of 'enemies' was found ahead"... Throughout the training, special situations came one after another. All teams worked closely and efficiently in the hot weather to successfully handle the special situations.
After leaving the training ground, the commander told me: "The soldiers overcame the challenges brought by the hot weather, completed the training tasks with high standards, and further improved their combat capabilities."
