Qiu Zongde, a 45-year-old Silicon Valley engineer, fell into the sea while kayaking and fishing near a coast in California, USA on August 3. A surfer found Qiu Zongde drowning in the sea and brought him to shore, then called the police.

According to the information, Qiu Zongde studied at the Department of Precision Instruments of Tsinghua University from 1997 to 2001 as an undergraduate, and continued to study for a master's degree in the department from 2001 to 2003. After graduating from the master's degree, Qiu Zongde worked in Beijing and Shanghai, and then went to the United States to work.
