Under the U.S. Electoral College voting system, these three populous Midwestern states are considered the key to winning the election.

The poll was conducted among 1,973 registered voters from August 5 to August 9 and is one of the first high-quality polls conducted in these states after US President Biden announced his withdrawal from the race. Similar polls conducted nearly a year ago showed that Trump and Biden were either tied or slightly ahead in these states.

Harris's support in Pennsylvania has risen by 10 percentage points in a month. Voters believe that Harris is smarter than Trump and has better governance capabilities.
