IT Home reported on August 11 that Meta recently released the latest system update for the Quest headset, which introduced a highly anticipated feature: seamless multitasking. Currently, this feature is available as an experimental setting and can be experienced on Quest 3 and Quest Pro with the public beta version v69 installed.

This new feature allows users to open and manipulate a 2D window simultaneously in an immersive VR application, for browsing any content. This means that players can play classic flat games or watch live broadcasts while waiting for the game to load.

The addition of this feature will open up new application scenarios for the Quest headset. For example,When encountering difficulties in the puzzle game, users can directly call up the tutorial video; VR live broadcast platform can synchronously display articles, videos and other materials, making it convenient for anchors to check information in real time.

The addition of multitasking greatly expands the use scenarios of Meta headsets, making them closer to the experience of PC VR headsets. Meta has previously demonstrated the technology of running Steam Link and Apple Music on Quest 3 and Apple Vision Pro at the same time, and this update further realizes the superposition of a single 2D window in VR applications.

IT Home needs to remind you that this feature is currently in the experimental testing stage and may be unstable. Users need to install the latest public beta version v69 and restart the device, then enable this feature in the experimental settings. Meta usually rolls out major updates gradually, so it may take some time for this feature to be officially released.
