Recently, the New Era Civilization Practice Center of Pingguoyuan Street, Shijingshan District, Beijing, launched a garbage classification themed publicity activity called "Environmental Protection Carnival Practicing New Fashion", which attracted the active participation of 200 residents in the area.

The activity set up six areas, including publicity area, handicraft area, waste plastic recycling area, old item exchange area, waste-to-treasure craft display area and interactive game area, to let residents understand the importance of garbage classification, classification methods and environmental significance through various means.

In the handicraft area, the finished products such as paper boxes made from shopping paper bags, flower pots made from laundry detergent bottles, and pen holders made from disposable chopsticks attracted many residents. Under the guidance of the handicraft teacher, everyone cut, folded, and decorated the old objects into beautiful and practical creative works. Everyone said that the old objects at home could be so useful after being transformed, which inspired them a lot and they would try to make a few at home.

In the second-hand goods exchange area, residents exchanged recyclable items in their homes such as used newspapers, books, plastic bottles, etc. for canvas bags on the spot, enhancing everyone's awareness of green environmental protection.

In the waste plastic recycling area, the staff used solar power to start the machine, which heated, pressed and formed the plastic particles on site, and finally made them into exquisite key chains. While receiving the environmentally friendly key chains, the residents also intuitively experienced the process of plastic recycling and reuse.

The event also included a variety of fun games related to garbage classification. The atmosphere was warm and enthusiastic. While making education fun, it guided residents to participate in garbage classification on their own, further expanding the social awareness of garbage classification.
