Iran's permanent representative to the United Nations pointed out that Israel's recent actions violated Iran's sovereignty and national security, and Iran has the legitimate right to defend itself, which has nothing to do with the Gaza ceasefire. Iran hopes that the response will be carried out in a timely manner and will not affect the potential ceasefire agreement.
He also said that there have always been direct and indirect official channels of information transmission between Iran and the United States, and both sides prefer to keep the details confidential.
Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of the Political Bureau of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), was killed in an attack at his residence after attending the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian President Pezerhziyan in Tehran. Iran believes that the assassination was committed by Israel and vowed to retaliate for this violation of national sovereignty.
