Cailianshe, August 9 (Editor: Huang Junzhi)After several rounds of "tug of war", Trump and Harris finally finalized the time for the first debate, which will be held on ABC as originally scheduled (September 10).

This debate was originally agreed upon by Trump and Biden, but after Biden dropped out of the race and Harris "took over", Trump kept shirking his responsibilities and finally agreed on Thursday.

Trump said at a news conference that he also wants to have two additional debates with Harris: one on September 4 hosted by Fox News and the other on September 25 hosted by NBC News.

In response, Harris said: "I am happy to discuss additional debates, but let's not discuss them until after September 10 (ABC debate)."

"I have been publicly stating that I look forward to debating Donald Trump and our date is September 10th," she added.

Fox previously agreed to host a debate for Trump and Harris on September 4. A person familiar with the matter revealed that NBC has arranged multiple possible debate dates for the two presidential candidates. Trump's campaign team agreed to hold a debate on September 25, but Harris's campaign team has not yet agreed to this date.

"I think it's very important to have a debate," Trump stressed on Thursday, adding that CBS News will host a vice presidential debate for his running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, and Harris' running mate, Minnesota Governor Waltz.

In recent times, Harris has been gaining ground in various polls, from being closely behind to now, she is gradually showing a trend of taking the lead.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Thursday showed that Harris' lead over Trump is widening, with 42% to 37% ahead of Trump. In the same poll from July 22 to 23, she was only 3 percentage points ahead of Trump at 37%.

And more and more voters are beginning to question Trump's age. According to the latest Morning poll, before Biden announced his withdrawal from the race, 58% of respondents believed that Trump was in good health; but now, this number has dropped to 52%. And more than half of the voters said that Trump is now too old to run for election, which was only 44% before.

However, in the national average poll tracked by The Hill/Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ), a U.S. election forecasting agency, Harris and Trump are almost tied, with Trump receiving 47.4% support and Harris's support rate as high as 47.2%.
