Wu Yu was born in Guizhou in 1995. In 2018, she won the fifth place in the 48kg class of the World Women's Boxing Championship. In 2019, she defeated the North Korean player 5-0 in the final of the women's boxing 48-51kg class of the 7th World Military Games, winning China's first women's boxing gold medal in the history of the Military Games.
