According to CCTV News, on August 7 local time, the United Nations International Court of Justice headquartered in The Hague issued a statement saying that, in accordance with Article 63 of the Statute of the International Court of Justice, it agreed to Turkey's declaration of participation in the case concerning the application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip.
Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Keceli announced on August 7 local time that Turkey will formally submit an application to the International Court of Justice at 16:30 local time on the 7th (21:30 Beijing time on the 7th) to join the lawsuit initiated by South Africa against Israel for alleged "genocide".
South Africa sued Israel in the International Court of Justice last December for "genocide" in the Gaza Strip. The International Court of Justice issued "provisional measures" in January and March this year, requiring Israel to comply with the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide to prevent "genocide" against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip; and to take all necessary measures to ensure that humanitarian aid can enter the Gaza Strip unimpeded.
