Schools are the main battlefield for teaching and educating people, and students are the main force in practicing "waste classification is the new fashion". At present, the list of Dongguan City's "Guangzhou Xianghua" domestic waste classification featured schools in the first half of 2024 has been officially released. A total of 32 primary and secondary schools and kindergartens have been rated as Dongguan City's second batch of "Guangzhou Xianghua" domestic waste classification featured schools. Among them, Qingxi Town has the largest number of schools on the list, with a total of 5 schools selected. As of now, the number of Qingxi Town's "Guangzhou Xianghua" domestic waste classification featured schools has reached 9, the largest number in the entire city of Dongguan.
According to the "Dongguan Municipal Domestic Waste Classification "Dongguan Xianghua" Action Plan", by the end of 2025, Dongguan will cultivate 100 featured schools. During this creation process, five schools (kindergartens), including Qingxi Town No. 1 Primary School, No. 2 Primary School, Residents No. 1 Kindergarten, Liansheng Primary School and Chenguang No. 1 Kindergarten, adhered to the "moral education" nature, gave full play to the creativity of teachers and students, and integrated waste classification into all aspects of campus life by organizing various forms of classroom teaching and establishing a long-term mechanism for waste classification publicity and education, playing a good demonstration role. In the end, the five schools (kindergartens) passed the review of the Municipal Waste Classification Office and the Municipal Education Bureau and were successfully rated as the second batch of "Dongguan Xianghua" domestic waste classification featured schools in Dongguan City.
In recent years, Qingxi Town has promoted the classification of domestic waste in the whole town by improving the management system, building demonstration areas, improving hardware facilities, creating high-quality routes, and carrying out publicity and guidance. During this period, Qingxi Town formulated the "Three-Year Action Plan for Domestic Waste Classification in Qingxi Town (2023-2025)" and the "Evaluation Plan for Domestic Waste Classification in Qingxi Town (2023 Revised Edition)", built and put into use 171 sets of fully functional garbage classification booths, and carried out high-frequency and multi-form garbage classification publicity and guidance activities such as summer volunteer services and speech contests, creating a good atmosphere for domestic waste classification throughout the town. At the beginning of this year, the first batch of featured schools was announced, with a total of 4 schools in Qingxi Town selected, and 5 schools in the second batch of featured schools. Up to now, the number of "Guangxianghua" domestic waste classification featured schools in Qingxi Town has reached 9, the largest number in the city.
Qingxi Town will continue to deepen its work on campus waste classification, give full play to the demonstration and leading role of schools with special features in domestic waste classification, actively explore new concepts and ideas for domestic waste classification on campus, promote the domestic waste classification work in the education system to be distinctive, set examples, and achieve results, and form a typical demonstration model that can be replicated and promoted.
