Since entering the critical flood prevention period of "the end of July and the beginning of August", Beijing has experienced many heavy rainfalls. Continuous heavy rainfall has caused a sharp increase in the flow of rivers entering the reservoir upstream. The Miyun Reservoir has successfully intercepted and stored all the water from the upstream. From July 16 to date, the water volume entering the reservoir has reached 124 million cubic meters. Since the beginning of the flood season, the Miyun Reservoir has been scientifically dispatched to give full play to the important role of the reservoir in flood prevention and disaster reduction, effectively intercepting floods and reducing peaks, with a flood interception and peak reduction rate of 100%, reducing the flood peak greater than 1,000 cubic meters per second once, effectively responding to all heavy rainfall processes, reducing the pressure of flood prevention downstream, and ensuring the safety of people's lives and property.
A relevant person in charge of the Beijing Miyun Reservoir Management Office said that Beijing is currently still in the critical flood prevention period of "the end of July and the beginning of August". The Miyun Reservoir will continue to play an important role in flood prevention and disaster reduction. At the same time, in accordance with the goal of "ensuring safety and storing more water", it will store precious water resources and serve as a "ballast stone" and "stabilizer" to ensure the safety of the capital's water supply.
